Advice: Don't peel out or you won't have ANY tranny for long.

and don't forget to use the dead pedal - resting your foot ON it, instead of letting it hover or rest over the clutch. or else, it will be a sure way of accellerating your clutch replacement. happened to an old roomie of mine (I didn't say he was smart, did I?) he owned a new 300zx TT - blew the clutch out in two weeks! dont be scared of it though, just start off with good habits and they will come natural.

Do not downshift to a lower gear to slow the car down. This puts extra wear on the transmission/clutch. Use the brakes.

I take my foot off the clutch and shift in to neutral while at stop lights. Not sure if this saves wear or not but I feel like it might.

Wait for the transmission to warm up before doing any hard shifts.

The trick in our car is that you have to rev high, 6K - 8K RPMs, and then pop the clutch.

The owners manual actually says that to get some extra braking, it's ok to down shift....

I think this mainly applies to long downhill roads to avoid overheating the brakes. In this case, yes you should shift to a lower gear to brake the car.
