wow...for a $7000 motor I would drop $250 on a plane ticket from Tampa to San Fran then go a pay a little visit. Would also be a good excuse for a vacation. If I was willing to spend $7k on a motor, I would DEFINITELY think that $250 + rental + hotel is well worth the money for the additional piece of mind.

I had a bad experience, took 5 months for the high boost package, when he said it would take 1. He called me to say it was done, picked up my car and then all of a sudden it wasnt done, so he said he would keep my car inside his shop during the night, well I was in the area and checked and there it was outside... Looked like it had been for weeks, while these pos crx's were inside the shop... had my car for 1 month at his shop after he intialally said he was finished... Very bad communication, it seemed he was mia during the entire build. Not a good feeling, or experience... I would not go back...

Well,
This sucks balls!
I read the other threads on Honda-Tech and it doesn't make me feel too warm and fuzzy
Thanks for the links!
Joe has a chance to restore the reputation of himself and his company ( with me at least ) and the next couple of weeks I will be watching and waiting and I will update as I receive information from him, I have had many people contact me privately about this matter and I still support him and I hope that doesn't change.

In my conversations with Joe he is very well spoken so, I don't think education is an issue - keep in mind the "S" and the "E" are near each other on the keyboard!
I typo in almost every one of my posts
Please don't up my thread!
This thread is not meant to slander or slam anyone.

Such a shame to hear of these delays. Is he the ONLY one at his shop who does all the work? I'm sure it's a very long process to train others to be on par with his skill level but why not invest some time/money (if he hasn't already done so) to expand the business or outsource to pros. Easier said than done I'm sure but demand has obviously exceeded capacity a long time ago. Just seems like he either doesn't want to or just doesn't have the time? This isn't a dig on him at all but his reputation is going to take the brunt of the hit. Good luck with your project.

I had my S2000 Motor rebuilt by Joe Alaniz around October of last year and it took for ever. He told me that it would only take around two weeks to complete but ended up taking around 3 months. I had no problems contacting him whether it be by phone or email.... he responded to them. Every time I would ask when my motor would be done, he would always reply next week. Then when next week rolled around he would reply that it would take another week and so on. That really pissed me off! To make up for the long wait Joe did extra work on my motor at no extra charge and also trailered my car from my home to his shop and dropped the motor back in for a very good price.

The problem that Joe has is that he accepts too much work. I have been to his shop before (about half a yr. ago) and he has tons of heads and motors to work on. He refuses to hire extra help and make a big production line because he is afraid the quality of work won't be there. Joe is a good guy and does Excellent work....he is just slow. But I guess good things are worth waiting for.

See, that's my point. He obviously does very good work but the problem seems to be that they're perfectionists and aren't willing to give up that extra bit of control to allow others to learn and help grow the business. Sure, people will still go to him but at a certain point, like this, it burns bridges and leaves a negative impression because the next time you need his service, you'll feel like you're going to the dentist to get your teeth pulled. If you even go back. Point being, it's a shame that skilled people like Joe aren't expanding because in the end, it hurts the consumer...and his rep.
