Recently picked up an F22C from an '04 and an AP2 transmission from an '05. The block I'm keeping for later projects and because it was cheap, the tranny I'm going to swap into my AP1 in the spring.
Noticed the VIN tags on both parts, so just for curiousity's sake, I thought it'd be fun just to run the VINs and see what's what.
If anyone has a current Carfax subscription and doesn't mind checking these two VINs out, I'd be grateful. Please PM me, and thanks in advance.
The VINs:
JHMAP214Z5S800077 - got the tranny from this one
JHMAP214X41001091 - got the block from this one

The first one has a check digit of Z in the 9th position. The check digit is determined by an algorithm of the vin, and a string of numbers 16 digits long (it skips the check digit), letters are set to a specific numerical value.count from one to 9 through the alphabet to get your number. The check digit is the remainder of the sum of the algorithm divided by 11, giving you a value of 0-10 In the event you get a 10, this is substituted with an "x"
Or in other words Your "z" is a "2" which checks out....
Please lookup the vin.
JHMAP21425S800077
for the block the eleventh character you gave is "1"
that is the plant code, s2000's are either made in Suzuka or Tochigi,
That number has to either b an "s" or a "t" I'm pretty sure ap1's were made in tochigi with the nsx, ap2's are made in suzuka, that means your 11th has to be an "s"
which doesn't check out
so your vin needs to be JHMAP214?4S?????? i didn't double check but that should be right.

Completely forgot about my post! And I have the notifications turned off as I was getting so many emails and thus not so productive at work!
I must have just read the VINs wrong, the garage isn't as well lit as it could be, and I was clambering over my engine hoist and all that. I tried 'S' with the second, block, VIN and it didn't check out, so I just punched in 'T' instead and it came out okay.
Thanks for the help!

VIN checking using other people's single subscriber CarFax accounts is a violation of CarFax policy and technically illegal. Like downloading copyrighted Helms manuals. We know people do it, but not allowed on s2ki.com. Sorry.
