Anyone ever see 4 bars on temperature gauge?

Just wondering if you ever get more than 3 bars down south. Also, for those that have installed the Mugen thermostat, does it still read 3 bars?

This summer, when the temperature was well past 100, I was in bumper-to-bumper traffic and the ever-faithful stook stayed at three bars while some other cars were on the side of the road having overheated. I've never seen more than three.

Track day in Vegas - 118 degrees out. Driving hard and all. 3 bars the whole time. I was starting to think the damn gauge was broken!

How many bars do you need to see before you drive off when you start from cold? With winter coming up here, this will be a very important question for me.

I drive a 1 bar, but after the RPM's drop from ~2k to ~1.2k

it would take probably 10-15 minutes to get to the second bar at idle.

Depends on the ambient temp. Here in Texas it is too damn hot.. there are times in the summer I start it for the first time in 20 - 24 hours and drive five or six blocks and have three bars.. I know the oil is not up yet, but the water is.
