Default Anyone have GPS installed in their S2000

I'm wondering if anyone has a GPS in their S2000. I've seen a lot of portable ones, but anyone have a tv screen type.

Anyone have pics?

I don't understand why anyone would want GPS in anything which is why I will not even own a cell phone.

I prefer not having people being able to pinpoint my exact location.

How do either a GPS or a cell phone pinpoint your location to anyone else? (And what does a cell phone have to do with a GPS?) A GPS unit is a receiver; it's not sending secret signals to the government with your location in it. And a cell phone is really easy: either leave it at home or turn it off!

GPS locators in cell phones are used only (mostly) for 911 location. If you call 911 from a cell phone, and they have E911 capabilities, then they can locate you based on the signal from your phone. I work in the cellular industry so i deal with this crap all the time....'

To answer the original questioin, Rick Hesel does have a Garmin Street Pilot III in his car, custom mounted.....search for that and you will find it!

Interesting info on the cell phone. It doesn't, however, have anything to do with similar capabilities in a GPS receiver. Nor does it change the fact that you can either leave your phone at home or turn it off.

no, no relevance to a GPS nav unit, but still a similar principal.

I used to work in the cellphone industry so I can comment further. As of now, my carrier (T-Mobile) hasn't even implemented an E911 system, so there's no way I can be tracked via my phone even if I did call 911. And even with an E911 system in place, they can only tell what cell site you're near, so it gives authorities only a general idea of where to look.

And no, you can't be tracked by any GPS receiver you have, as others have correctly pointed out. Big Brother doesn't have nearly the powers (yet) that some think he does. Give Ashcroft a chance though, and we'll all have no privacy real soon! He makes me sick. Oops- political...
