Default Anyone Have a "Permanent" Hardtop

I am contemplating on permanently removing the soft top as I bought this car mainly for the performance and looks. I do enjoy the convertible and I might as well since I have it, but if there was a hardtop version of the S, I would have gotten that instead.

Anyone experience this> Or have any ideas?

I need to know how much it would be for Honda to remove my softop and motor, and I would like to what the top and motor sell for. I tried searching but of course it gives irrelevant threads. Also, once the soft top is removed, can I put the boot cover on it and call it a day?

Thanks!

I have seen some people that do this.

Search specifically in the for sale forum (it might be easier to scroll back day by day to get to recent threads.) to see what a softtop goes for. Because you have an '02 you should be able to sell it relatively easily to someone with a plastic window who is looking to upgrade.

Do you have the HT yet? Try negotiating the price of the removal of the softop and install of the HT in the same deal. That should help you out.

I would guess you could put the boot cover on without the soft top in place, but I don't think it would work with the HT on. (I am guessing, I don't know for sure.)

If it was easy, it wouldn't be worth doing!

Why bother? Unless you're a super-hardcore track junky and you really want to save 40lbs, then whats the point? I left my HT on 95% of the year, but I did enjoy knowing that when I wanted it off, I had the security of a soft top to park with.

Now I completely agree with that...the paying someone else part.

When my hardtop arrives I plan to do it all myself and yes, I am doing it for weight savings. As soon as I get my new Prius for a daily I plan to gut the car completely and try and get as close to Krazik's results as possible. I love the idea of a 2300-2400 lb. hardtop S2000.

Question is - does the thread starter care about the 40lbs?
