Default Anyone have a shift light?

A few nights ago, I saw a clean RX7 at the store with what looked to be an Autometer shift light mounted between the gauge pod and the A-pillar. The install looked clean. I began to wonder about a shift light on the S, because when driving quickly, I usually can't see all of the tach. I know people have the beeper, but I like the idea of the light better.

I remember reading a article in a Motor Trend about a tuned viper (not sure by who) that had a shift light in the air vents that would flash on and tell the driver when to shift.

If it was in the vent (preferably the one to the right of the tach in the S) it would be visible when it lit up, but it wouldn't be visible all the time, and would keep the interior looking clean.

BTW, if anyone was a brand of shift light that they think is good, or the best deal, please let me know.

Thanks

For me the Modifry Redline Warning Beeper is a better solution. I do not want to be looking at the interior of the car to know when to shift, hell if I wanted to do that I would look at the tach...

The Modifry beeper is to me the best S2000 mod. Period. I never look at my tach on the track, and I can nail my shifts just before the rev limiter kicks in every time.

I have an autometer shift light in my left AC vent, but it is mounted from the AC vent and sits on the dash, but I think that your idea is to have the shift light actually in the AC vent? I used to have it mounted on my A pillar, but I just got an a pillar pod for my gauges so I mounted it to the left AC vent. Not sure if this help you out or not though.

I'm not saying the beeper isn't a good idea, but if the shift light is mounted correctly, it's not necessary to look down to see it. When it goes off, you'll know. And if it's at night, everybody behind you will know too

I know that the beeper works well, but I like the idea of the light better. When they go off at night, they look awesome, especially if you have blue or something bright like that. Do you mount it on the A pillar like a gauge? and where do you get the signal from for the RPM's? For people that have taken the dash apart, is there even room for a shift light inside either of the air vents?

You can also use the Modifry Beeper to flash your interior light and use that as a shift light. Just a thought.

Looks like Modifry is sold out of his beeper.

Are there any alternatives that also give audible warnings?

I've always wanted to do this. When I had my 95 civic hatch, I was toying with the idea of trying this our, but never got the chance due to me crashing my car. But I really want to do this. A shift light in the vent would make the car look super clean, yet you wouldn;t have to take your eyes off the road. Plus you could always close the vent if you didn't want to use it. If anyone does this, plese post some instructions.
