I came from owning an 04 STI for almost 5 years before i sold that to get the S

i'll tell you one thing, i miss the TQ of the STI, almost everytime I step on the gas, but the s2000 is a lot more fun even though its a bit slower.

 

way much better to DD an Evo or an STi. But nothing compares to the excitement of traditional knife edge handling--just you and your body feeling each corner while pushing the car to its limits.

 

I drive an AP1 on the weekends and my wife drives daily drives an Evo IX MR. It is really difficult to compare to two cars, as they are really different. Personally, I think the AP1 is more fun to drive, and whenever we're out on the weekend, we only drive my car unless the weather is poor or we need to carry people around. If you're looking for all out speed and 'easy to drive fast', you'll be happy with the Evo/STi.

As far as reliability/maintenance goes, my wife's '06 Evo is at 25k miles, we've owned it since new. Oil is replaced every 3k miles (as with all our cars), it gets around 18-19mpg with a mix of city/highway driving, drivetrain fluid needs replacing every 2 years (100-300 bucks depending on if you do it yourself or bring it to a shop). The only real problem we had was the front rotors warping and we needed to replace all 4 rotors and pads due to the severity of the warpage (it might have been my fault, as my dumb@ss used airtools when I was swapping out the winter tires in the spring and may have overtightened the lugnuts). AMS did the work for us to replace all 4 pads, rotors, and brake fluid for 1200 bucks.

how come? i thought they would be pretty nice inside considering the EVO has recaro seats. ive never driven one though so idk how the interior looks

 

Hmm i had a Evo 8 and a 08 CR before.
Evo- Was brute power and i loved every minute of it. Cheap to make big power. Only 4 banger that would throw me into my seat after every shift.
CR-Fun car but not a great DD. Fun car for how slow it was but great on the turns. Loved the look way more and interior/feel of it.

Over all i want to get back into one or the other some day not sure which sense i never went top down but 5 times more than likely i would pick a Evo

 

Its not the seats we are complaining about. Its the design, down to the materials used. Both cars to me have a very cheap, rental car feel on the inside compared to the S.

 

To each their own, but the electronic dashboard is the one that I really don't like about the S2000, and wished it came with regular sweeping gauges. I would prefer a typical analog dashboard with a tach dead center where it should be exactly how the Evo is laid out. The Evo's interior, although spartan compared to other cars, is IMO more functional and easier to use than the S.

 

sti's interior build quality is inferior to the s2000. All of the panels scratch very easily and the paint wears quickly..

The EVO and STI interioir is pretty cheap but the S isnt much better. The plastic radio door and cup holder cover is technically luxurious. Its cheap plastic that scratches easily and breaks easily also.
