Who has turned in their S after the lease expired? i'm curious how carefully they scrutinize dents, nicks or scratches. you can turn the car in at any acura or honda dealer in the country right? plz share your experiences

They sent someone out to inspect the car (by appointment). I don't believe they can do it at any dealership.

My car had a pretty major gash on the rear fender (a 10x10 tent canopy flew in the wind and landed on my car, metal bar first...)

They didn't hassle me about it. It was probably 4" long. I also had tons of rock chips on my bumper and headlights. I had an 00-01 trunk lid (the car was an 02) and they didn't notice.

HTH.

If they give you crap about chips on the front of your car I'll send you pics of mine after 25k miles so they have two examples of how shitty the pain on this car holds up

They are really pretty flexible come lease end, my brother had a VW that he beat the heck out of and didn't get any fines. He had sand all inside the car in every crease, crevass, and crack. Surf wax on the seats, salt marks.

I wouldn't worry too much, they want you to come back and buy again so they won't go crazy. Most of the time it is an outside company doing the inspection.

Don't you have to turn it into a specific dealer?
There is an inspection.

Google + "turning in leased vehicle" gave the link:

You do not have to turn in to any particular dealer...most likely the one closest to you.

I know a guy who turbocharged his car and returned it to stock at lease end and they didn't notice a thing. Granted they did a very clean job with the uninstall, but still. Anything is possble. Generally I don' t think its the most through or strict inspection, they want you to come back.
