anyone NOT like to take their S to the track

That's a pretty redundant answer. Not saying its your personal one but anyone who says that as their reasoning for not tracking is pretty lame (second reason). In order to prepare for competition, you have to pratice. Practice means tracking your car. Tracking your car means driving in HPDE's or regular open track days that are not competitions. Only when your skills are up to par, should you enter "meaningful competition". So essentially, the two go hand in hand.
the S2000 is not an inexpensive car (relative) so if you're in fear of damage then there's no shame in admitting it and avoiding track days. You are however, a douche if you give the second reason.

In other words, their skills ARE up to par. In fact, they are much better than par.
The understand the competition of wheel-to-wheel racing, but have no interest in it due to issue #1 - cost and risk.
Personally, I have no issue with tracking the car, and have done so many times. The competition, or lack thereof, is not a factor for me - I just enjoy the experience. I'm mature and experienced enough to drive within my limits, thereby mitigating issue #1, and am cognizant and accepting of the fact that stuff might happen anyway.
I haven't tracked the car in a while though, because I've started tracking my motorcycle instead. <shrug>
Well, I LOVE driving it at the track, but the last couple of time I went, it was hell on the car. You're at redline for long periods of time, putting untold amounts of stress on the car.
I mean, it's always hell on the car, and that's the point, but it makes me feel bad. I paid a lot for it using my hard earned money, and I would hate for something to happen to it, especially if insurance won't cover it.

These people instead compete in SCCA autocross, and do well at a very high level. Track events are not interesting to them, because track events have no meaningful competition.

I think they say "no meaningful competition" because they can't admit they're nancies and can't nut up and hold a fourth gear sweeper.

I can only say you're ignorant of what motivates some people, people you've never met, to do what they do.Have a nice day.

no need for people to get defensive. seems to happen a lot more on the board these days.
What, you're saying I'm defensive?
Not at all, I'm just stating that feintmotion86 is ignorant of what motivates several people I know who have no interest in track events.
Gosh, I was even polite in wishing him a nice day, and look, I get attacked.

I would like to track my S but I haven't yet, done mostly autocross and two passes down the drag strip. I won't do anymore drag racing with it, but I will probably stick to autocross for now. I fall into the "Damage" category. I am afraid to break something on the car, not so much the crashing but the engine, trans, and rear. I don't really feel the need to race against other people so HPDE and driving events would be enough for me now. There also aren't any tracks within a 2 hours of me that I know of, but they are working on that. New Jersey Motorsports Park is currently under construction and should nearly be complete, thus only leaving me with the cop-out excuse, I am afraid to break the car.
How much of a stickler are the track day organizers for the roll bar requirement?

I dont think the OP ever mentioned door to door racing. I dont think he even specified between autoX or road coarse events. I think he just meant tracking in general. Didnt he? As in paying to play without fear of the popo? I hope this isnt turning into a autoX cross vs. road coarse pissing match. I dont see how those two parties can argue with each other anyway. You would think they would show love/respect for anybody willing to go to a track to put the S2K through its paces.
