Anyone tried this cheap mod?
I left my car at the shop to get a throttle body installed today and the NSX guy there suggested this little mod to simulate exhaust sound. It sounded fine in the pretest and we made sure that it's small enough to not lead to HP loss. A 1" by 5" rectangular opening at the bottom left hand corner of the airbox was cut open, leading more air to the MG Racing filter. At 5K rpm and above, the car now generates IMO a very deep, bassy note that's loud enough but won't wake up the neighbors. Both jobs cost $130.

Some people on the board have dynoed their car with the top of the airbox off( makes the same sound as you've described) and proved that you lose HP.
Cold air is better.

Sounds like you're only intrested in how it sounds more than any small HP loss, so its all good if you like the stock looking engine bay. Thou a CAI would've gave you a more refine sound, plus cooler air
