Anyone here w/out a garage? I currently live in a rented house w/out a garage. The thought of letting my S2k sit outside in the elements bothers me. Anyone else?

Does anyone currently cover their S2k daily with some sort of material for protection?

(I'm a newbie = full of questions...)

Thanks,

prock

I think Rick Hesel's S2000 lives outside protected by a Weathershield car cover. I got a great deal on aWeathershield car cover from Top Notch Auto, one of the board's sponsors. It is waterproof and breathable. The Honda car cover is a very elegant dust cover, but not designed for outdoor use.

Unless you're afraid of your car getting picked on by the neighborhood kids or thieves... don't worry about it. The elements... the S2000s a nice car and a ton of money, but again, it's a car and it's been designed to storm the weather just like any other car out there as long as it's not hail or tons of snow.

Just drive it and enjoy it, man. Have fun!

Barry is right. Mine stays outside under a Weathershield cover. I know at least three other owners who do the same. While it's not quite as convenient as garaging the car, I don't think there's any more harm done. It's just not as secure from thieves or malicious punks, but we don't have any of those in my neighborhood

I did a search and found perhaps what might be an alternative to a garage or a car cover. Go to:
http://www.carcoon.com/. Please try to get a garage asap.

Where will it be during the day? I don't have a garage at home, but it is garaged all day at work. I got a custom-fit car cover from a local place (North Coast Tarpaulin in San Diego), which goes on whenever the car is going to be sitting in the sun for more than an hour. Sun is the major enemy, especially for the black top. At least in San Diego.

Cheers,
Jason

I simply use the Honda car cover. It repels water to some degree although the usual "rainfall" here has been in the fluffy, powdery form (A.K.A. snow). It's worked quite well so far - I just keep the snow brushed off when it's not suitable for driving (S02s suck in the snow)...

Does anyone here with or w/o garage prefer to park their S with the top down in public places? I usually have the top up if i'm gonna park longer than 30 min. but there are convertible owners out there that likes to leave the top down most of the time. Their rationale is that stuffs like CD's and radars are cheaper to replace than a ripped top that costs 2-3 grands to replace.
