only if squirrels pee on your motor........ or someone strolls by and a stuffs mothballs into you oil filler hole........... or a flatbed pulls up and removes the engine...............

Nothing wrong with it but I don't think it's necessary either.

I prop the hood up and use a house fan to blow air over the engine compartment area.

I'm not an expert or anything, but typically, you want temperature changes in metal to be as gradual as possible, since the metal is actually moving when it heats up and cools down. However, in this scenario, you probably aren't introducing any negative side effects, because the cooling effect isn't drastically different than just leaving the hood down. Got to remember also, that the hood is also aluminum. Aside from being lighter, aluminum will dissipate heat faster than steel. So you might not be doing any good either by leaving the hood up.

just curious but when leaving it overnight for say 6-10 hours your engine will completely cool down on its own probaly in less than 3 hours... within 5 hours of cooling on its own you could probaly not feel any heat anywhere from the motor... just seems a little extreme but its your baby...

I usually do that when I'm at the track or I want to do some work under the hood soon after driving it. It makes a big difference.

by cooling the engine by other means is creating faster metal contractions and expansions. sudden changes like this is not good for the engine, just let the engine cool down by itself. i agree with uncle fester.
