Default Anyway to reduce jolt of over-rev limiter?

The over-rev protection in the S2k is a real neck snapper in 1st gear. Is there any way to reduce the severity of the limiter?

Yes, there is only one way that *I* know of...

Don't hit it!

It's there to protect the engine. You will have to adapt to it as opposed to the other way around. Keep an eye on the tach as you are going up through VTEC. That's the only way around it...!

uhhhh, you sure you are at three bars? sounds as if you are 'hitting a brick wall' and only getting to 6000rpm's with one or two bars.

I dont get jolts in first gear from hitting the rev limiter.

I think he's just asking for a softer limiter (ease back on gas, maybe cut out one cylinder then two). I'd like one too but I realize it means cutting out a little sooner or allowing a higher ultimate RPM before leveling off.

Just shift before you hit it. When you get to red line shift and you wont have that problem.

Anything other than the sharp cutoff you're receiving would result in the engine to continue to accelerate. This leaves two options, if you're looking at preventing >9000 operation on a WOT situation:

1) Cut the fuel off completely (what we have now)
2) Initiate a graduated fuel cutoff starting at some other RPM below 9000 to that fuel is off at 9000, and it isn't so sudden.

Personally I prefer 1), as 2) would make you lose power before 9000 and therefore rob you some of your powerband.

The alternative, which is a more gradual cutoff at 9000 would result in the engine racing significantly above 9000 (and if the engine can run fine above 9000 in this way, I personally woul prefer a higher redline and the sharp cutoff). There really is no easy way to not have a hard cutoff, keep the engine from exceeding 9000, *and* give you full power up to 9000.

I doubt you'll hit the rev limiter enough for it to be an issue. I've hit it once when my engine wasn't warmed up. Also I've hit the limiter when I waited too long to shift, and that I only did once.

I have noticed that a lot of people talk about the revlimiter hitting at 9000 rom. Is this true? I always thought it was higher. Something like 9000 for the redline and 9200 for the limiter. Any evidence anywhere?

so your asking for a softer revlimiter when in first? that would increase the risk of over revving and possibly damaging the engine

How about a pre-limiter vocal warning. Anyone remember the TV show "Lost in Space"? "Warning, Will Robinson, warning!" Why not just watch the freakin' tach.
