Was wondering if the struts on the ap1/2 are the same as the CR struts?

First, no S2000 has struts. They have coilovers.
Years with the same suspensions:
00-01
02-03
04-07 (I think?)
08
CR

Second, they have shocks/dampers and springs.

Does anyone know if the suspension got the usual 2 year retuning in '06?
From my understanding ... nope !

Honda didn't mention anything on their press release at least But from what it felt like when driving, the 06 didn't seem to have any changes to its shock/spring rate.

Correct. Non-adjustable Showa coil-overs on all MY cars.
This is a bit embarrassing, but I actually don't know the major differences between a strut setup and a coilover setup, other than just obvious ones. Any where I could read up on that?

I know they look a bit different hehe ... and people generally think of them as the "better setup" ...

So, are we saying the CR shocks are the same as the other MYs?

Not at all. Each line in my post above is a different spring/shock.
