AP1 not accelerating
Hello all, I just got a 2002 AP1 136xxx miles, the guy I got it from got it from a impound lot and it's been sitting for a while. I drove it to get a inspection and smog and it drove fine but never got into vtec, i wanted to change all fluids before i did. I did the oil, transmition, clutch, brakes and diff all new fluids. It had a 1/4 tank of fuel when I got it and I filled it one time and not a second since my ownership. The problem I'm having now is when I press the gas rpms will rise but I'm not getting acceleration to match the amount of rpms it's putting out I havnt got it to go past 30. No problems shifting or putting into gear. Anyone know what I can check or what could be the issue? Thank you all
If I down shift the rpms will go higher but the power band feels like its 3000 rpm power even though it could be at 5000 if that makes sense so no matter how much I press the gas the rpms will go up but my speed will slowly go up, and if I let off the Gas you can feel the car pull back like normal

It sounds like your clutch is slipping. The clutch is what "connects" the output of the engine to the transmissions/wheels. If you have the clutch pedal pushed in, or the transmission shifter in neutral, does the engine rev normally and does the engine sound good? If yes, then......let's say you put the car in first gear and rev the engine to 3000 RPM and then let out the clutch pedal. Does the car move forward very slugishly or does it jump forward quickly. Then as you give more gas....3000, 4000, 5000 RPM does the engine rev up easily, but the car is moving slowly? Does it feel like the engine is not really "connected" to the wheels when you are in gear with the clutch pedal out?
If this all sounds right, then it sounds like your clutch needs to be replaced. That requires removing the transmission and replacing the clutch disk and probably a few more components (pressure plate, release bearing, release bearing guide).
Good luck!

I would not drive the car too much until you can get someone to look at it. You'll could be wearing out the pressure plate, and flywheel surfaces.
