Default Ap1 soft top with ap2 soft top

Ok I have a have question about my 2006 soft top I drove 6 hrs to get this soft top and took my off I have an ap1 with plastic and the plastic is ripped thats why I wanted it with the glass. The guys who I bought the glass one from were installing it and ripped both side of it like 6 inches each side. Ok so my question is can I cut the that piece above the the window from my ap1 soft top and sew it to the ap2 I'm taking to a shop and they can patch it up but if there's a way they can use a piece from my ap1 and see it to the ap2 that would be great. Thanks for looking I really appreciate it

I guess you can but its going to stretch and probably not going to fit right.

Good luck.

If you spent all that money on a 6 hour drive with gas and tolls, why in the world wouldn't you have just bought a brand new top?!?!

Since you are taking it to a place that can patch it up, wouldn't they be able to Best answer your question???

The fact that it ripped so easily when it was being installed leads me to believe the top you bought was dry rotted or somehow deteriorated. I definitely would not have the 2 tops sewed together because it probably wouldn't fit right and might not match up correctly, and also with the time and money it would take to get it to work, you would be able to buy a new top. Get a new Robbins top with glass window.

Sewing it together is asking for problems.. you'll probably be needing a new top sooner than before. I'd look elsewhere for a new top and have someone install it that knows what they're doing. Ripped BOTH sides?

it mostly reads as though you wish to save money.. and already sounds like it would cost more in time and frustration then it's worth... sadly, only fresh material will survive the riggers .. a new top... unless maybe you have friends who can sew up canvas... sail makers maybe... I tried to breath new life into my ap1 top.. I have some serious sailing friends an sail makers available.. they laughed.. we ate... I bought a new top.. it works..

Have them pay for a new one for ripping it.
