Thumbs up AP1 Vs. AP2

Besides the obvious fact that the AP1 revs a little higher, does the AP2 sound any different than the AP1? I remember reading a post a little while back where someone was mentioning that the AP2 has a slightly different exhaust note as compared to the AP1. Can anyone comment on this? Does the AP2 make any new/different noises as compared to the AP1 or is it essentially the exact same sound with a few hundred less revs? Not trying to make this a "what's better?" thread - just being curious. Thanks all.

The exhaust note is a little different, but you can hardly tell unless you listen to them back-to-back. All the other noises are the same.

Besides the actual sound, does the higher redline of the AP1 sound better or are those extra few hundred revs really not even that noticeable?

Anyone who has owned or extensively driven both an AP1 and an AP2 want to speak up?

I certainly noticed the lower redline, but because of how car drove - the sounds were secondary and otherwise 100% identical.

I've had both the AP1 and AP2. Had the 2002 model for 3 years (45k miles) and I currently have a 2005 with just a tick under 10k miles.

From my experience, the AP1 does sound a little different than the AP2. The AP1 seems to be a little higher pitch. And yes the AP1 sound at 9000 rpms is just pure ecstacy. Thats the only thing I miss about the AP1.

For the amount of time spent at redline, I would answer no difference.

Back from the dead I know, but I found this whilst searching for something else and had to chime in. I have owned both and the exhaust note from AP2 is undoubtedly deeper and more resonant than that of the AP1. AP1 is a real screamer at 9, but seems to be pitched higher throughout the whole range. My AP2 stock exhaust sets more car alarms than my AP1 did stock.

You must lead a boring life

I also had an 02 AP1 for 3 years and I have an 04 AP2 now.

The AP1 engine sound is much better from 8-9k rpm. I would redline my car atleast once a day, and on the track it sounds good

Ofcourse, if you get an exhaust and it drowns out the engine noise, I guess you won't miss it as much.

The AP2 tires seem to be a lot louder than the AP1. Maybe being slightly lower profile on 17's has something to do with it, but it's probably mostly just the different tire that's loud. I'm surprised that not too many people mention this.

The 04 stereo is louder than the 02, atleast, I can hear it a little better. But it still sucks.
