No I'm not starting another dumb thread on which one is better. I have heard of magazine article that compared the AP1 vs AP2 side by side on a track. If this article actually exists does anyone know what magazine I can find it in? Or better yet if someone has it, can they scan it for me? I think it would be an interesting read.

 

Not sure, but are you thinking of the Best Motoring comparison? If so, Best Motoring is a Japanese video series ( http://www.bestmotoringvideo.com/). You'd be looking for the title called "Hot Version: Battles at 10,000 rpm".

But it's not the best comparison (for our purposes) because it compares the Japanese AP2 which is a 2.0L.

Just about every article on the 2004 S2000 compared it to the 00-03. I'm not sure if any actually ran them back to back on the track, but they definitely compared the two. If I remember correctly, the '04 might have been a tick faster on the track, but nothing major. The bulk of the comments were on the drivability differences, the '04 being more forgiving at the limit.
