AP2 4.10 vs. 4.77 Comparison Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWffR3R6-Xk
First off, this video was not meant to be a time-attack (so please don't flame my horrible shifting)... It was meant to be a general informative clip to those considering the 4.77 on the AP2, and it consists of the following:
- a quick comparison of stock 4.10 (first run) vs. 4.77 (second run)
- a 4.77 freeway cruising run (third clip)... I start off in 6th, use 5th as a passing gear, then back to 6th.
I don't know of how much time a good driver would shave off in a straight line with this mod, but one thing for sure is that it loves getting you to the high RPM band quickly... and keeping it there... Now to some this may imply a faster car, but I think it could be negated because of the extra shifting... Nevertheless good driver or bad, faster car or not, I'm sure anyone will agree that once they try this mod they'll definitely notice an added fun factor to their car... One that I don't think i can fully describe with words or even a video clip...
Would I do this to my car if it was my only means of transportation? Probably not... Don't get me wrong, it makes it a blast to drive on the highway too because in 6th you just gas it and it GOES... As you can see 80mph is around the 5000rpm range... but is nowhere near the VTEC threshold, so I cannot vouch for that rumor. However there are also times when I'm rolling on the freeway wishing that there was a 7th gear. Now this definitely doesn't mean that I regret it, but I just wanted to give some input to those of you interested in the 4.77 with some serious highway driving... I'm sure no one drives at the speed limit, and you'll probably be running 5000+ RPM for most of your roadtrip. If you feel that this will interfere with the way you drive and you own an AP2, then the 4.77 is not for you... I'd have to recommend the 4.44. But if you mainly do street driving and love shifting (I do), then this $700 mod will bring a phat smile to your face... ($700 = gear, install, yellow jacket)
Overall I definitely approve and recommend this mod... Again if this is your weekend car, I say go 4.77, if its your only one and you do a lot of highway driving, then get 4.44.
Also the turnzero.net speed calculator (http://www.turnzero.com/technical_re...ear_calculator) was DEAD SPOT on.. I also wanted to give a thumbs up to MotorKlasse for a quick delivery of their 4.77 gear, and Modifry for the same fast service of the Yellow Jacket. Also to Elton at RaceLine in Temple City for his trustworthy 2-hour installation.
Hope this helps.

Nice review/vid.
I have been curious about the 4.77 and using them in a daily driver. I still haven't decided if I'd like to be around 5K all the time on the interstate.
I guess it doesn't really matter as it is well below the vtec range and if I were to be going fast enough for it to enter the vtec range then I would probably want vtec to kick in anyway.
