Default AP2 ABS System in AP1

Well, apparently the ABS system in the AP2 is a little bit better then that in the AP1 and it is also smaller and lighter weight.

Will this work in an AP1? Bolt right in? Anybody tried it? How much weight savings?

I saw this too on the bmi when they were comparing the ap1 vs ap2. I would assume that you could swap it all out, seems like it would be a lot of work though.

says honda...I'm not thinking of doing all the lines...I don't think any of that is changed, just the actual modulator and the ECU for it I believe. ECU is the main reason for better performance, modulator is smaller and weighs less. No idea how much, but I'd love to find out

I have no idea what experience you have with cars--if you know your stuff and feel like doing this, then go ahead. However, this seems quite trivial and I personally would not want to mess with any type of safety related features of a car--especially the braking system. I mean the 'better' braking from the AP2--is it really that much better than the AP1? If it is, you've gotta consider if its worth the safety risk, not to mention the money. If you are trying to save weight, I'm sure there are other corners worth cutting before resorting to this.

I'm...well experienced enough for this. I can't consider myself over the top experienced though because I come here looking for answers I don't know to try to better my own knowledge.

Personally the way I'm looking at it, is that there are no corners being cut here, it is simply improving. One for the increased braking performance and two for the weight savings. I do track the car frequently, and it is also a daily driver. I understand the safety risk involved...however I consider it to be none. If for some reason ABS didn't want to work with the AP2 system in the AP1 the brakes are still going to work. I'd simply switch it back.

As far as performance, thats part of my question here, I guess I'm the first person to ask this question and the only person to ever think of doing it. For it to be worth it IMO it would need to save at least 5lbs and shave off 3-4ft in the 60-0.

And yes I am trying to save weight as much as possible while still keeping the majority of creature comforts in the car (A/C, Fan, Carpet, etc.)
