it has two. well, its one big elongated box, separated by a piece of plastic in the middle which can be folded down.

can it be retrofitted to ap1? i have no clue.

I have had my S for 5 years and have never needed a 2nd cup holder. I rarely use the one I have.

Great thread title.

It's easy to swap, but not necessarily cheap.

I concur with Fish. The design is terrible. After spilling so many cups of coffee and soft drinks over everthing, I resorted to drinking my morning coffee and daily diet cokes from an insulated sport bottle with a screw on top with a pop up valve. Yeah, it still tips, but no muss, no fuss with the valve closed.

The AP2 center console will swap right in place of the AP1 center console.

The hazard switch is different, so you cannot reuse that, you will need a new one.

Expect to spend around $300 for a used one, and $500 for a new one from Hardtopguy:

Sorry, this is a REALLY bad picture. I painted the silver door and switch plate black and had the armrest recovered.

I would advise against paying anything more than zero dollars for an AP2 cupholder. It sucks. Instead of getting just 1 crappy cupholder, you get two.

XViper had this cool cup holder attachment that sat in the passenger's left leg area. Flipped up when not used. Flipped down when needed. It was slick and cheap.

Check the link in my sig - I think this is a better solution than the center console cupholders, but I recommend you only use it with sealable bottles.
