Default AP2 OWNERS - Launch quetsion

I hear a lot of AP1 S2000's launch at 6000rpm and I wonder what is the ideal rpm to launch at in an AP2 (stock)?

Just for curiosity, and if this is the wrong thread to post this in please feel free to move it.

thanks

Probably something a little lower. You can get the wheels spinning on the AP2 a little easier with the added torque.

6.3 or 6.5 and try to keep it there till u get grip. (let it grip itself if u keep it at that rpm while your launchin).

You want the wheels to spin a bit and not drop below vtec and then grip and take off... There is always a certain rpm where you can clutch drop and obtain this, just got to practice... You guys have heavier wheels and wider tires so I would try around 6k and go from there....

Dont gas out or clutch in... just rev and drop it, you will know if your spinning too much or bogging.

It depends on weather and track conditions, but usually I launch around 6K rpms. Like the above poster said, you want to launch in VTEC and stay there, with a little tire slippage until you hook up.

I have yet to launch my car due to fear of breaking things. When you say rev to 6k and drop the clutch, you mean just flat out let the clutch all the way out right? And you control the wheel spin with the gas? I want to launch my car but I want the best possible outcome I can hope for the first time. Not too much trial by error! Scared to break something.

6k should be nothing more than a starting point. anyone who is good at launching will tell you there is no magical set rpm. it will change constantly depending on traction conditions, tire pressure, temperature, road/track surface, etc.

also, moving to S2000talk.

also also. before anyone even bothers, spare us the soap box speeches about "the S2000 is not a drag car".

took the words right out of my mouth....uuhhhh...from my fingers.

Also, when dropping the clutch, don't be a wuss about it and remove your foot slow. you gotta get your foot off the clutch fast. If you're too slow with it you'll end up slipping the clutch and from a ~6k drop, most likely glaze it over pretty well.

What is meant when people talk about glazing the clutch?

Doesn't your clutch delay make it hard to launch?
