Okay, I'm sterotyping here ... but are S2000 owners relatively more anal in these things?

I don't really roam around in other boards (for other cars) much. Just wondering if these sorts of questions are typical ...

Does "9K" refer to the redline on the AP1 or the number of times a month the "AP1 vs AP2" debate resurfaces again ... and again ... and again ... and again ... and ... arrrrrgggggghhhhh!!!!!!!

AP2 is the best, especially MY06 !

I picked the AP2 because of the updated styling, torque and softer suspension.
I figured this was going to be my only car, my first RWD car and a car I'd be driving everyday for a long time.
Plus I bought new because I wanted my color and color interior.

I of course like the AP1, and now that I know more about mods, I'd probably pick an AP1, and put some 4.57 gears and update the front bumper and lights. I'd love to rev to 9k but since most of my driving is city, eh.

I would be happy with either, and think that the AP1 deserves a more hardcore owner than myself. However, I'd daily drive an Elise...go figure.

9000 RPM makes a huge difference... its the essence of the car.. it's what makes it totally unique compared to any other sport car in the segment... it's the way the designers wanted it.. that's why they didn't change it in the EU and Japanese version...

2008 version will have a gun rack option!

true, but I didn't want to spend ~30K to rev to 9k, I spent that much because of the entire package. sure the 9k is one of the things that makes the original great, but there are lots of other great things, the shifter, suspension, etc. plus reving to 8k+ isn't too bad.

for me 9k ultimately wasn't that big of a deal to have. fun factor, bragging rights and purity is what you get with 9k. I have tons of fun with the AP2, I don't like to brag, and purity, well I can give you that point.

Maybe we should section S2KI in to two different web sites. We will have a AP1I.com and a AP2I.com.

i think the only thing really missing in the ap2 is the tighter steering ratio. 9k would be nice, but it just feels slightly less sensitive to input than the ap1.
