The redline and dash can be solved fairly easily...swap in an ECU from an MY 00 or 01 and get the JDM AP2 dash cluster that goes to 9k. Get your key affixed to the new 'puter, and done. The old ecu's ran rich, so they actually work great on the 2.2 bottom end. You'll find your powerband is similar to the AP1, with power dropping off in the 8400-8500 rpm range.
Every AP2 I've ever seen on the dyno slams into the rev limiter...it's just set too low...the car is still making really good power when it's cut.
Yeah, I considered that, but I've learned that keeping things stock helps a great deal on resale value - not that I'm ever planning to sell THIS one, but being on my 3rd s2k, you just never know what might happen. I'm going to live with it until I've gotten a few track days under my belt and see what I think then.

Can the AP2 ECU be adjusted to set the rev limiter later?

Disregard previous post!

You can get an ECU reflash from Hondata in one of two programs:

For an otherwise stock car:
Stock Reflash
* VTEC point decreased from 6000 rpm to 5600 rpm
* Rev limit 8500 rpm

Or with a Toda header:
Header Reflash
* VTEC point decreased from 6000 rpm to 4200 rpm
* Rev limit 8500 rpm

Neither reflash adds much/any peak HP or TQ, but you fatten the midrange power, especially with the header program. They mention the Toda header because the program was developed for a car owned by a forum member (sorry, I don't remember the name) who had that header already installed, along with an exhaust, test pipe and Hondata intake manifold gasket.

There has been discussion here that most aftermarket headers should work with the reflash, but none have been specifically tested/dynoed that I have seen. I am particularly interested in the Mugen AP2 header, as it's the only one so far designed specifically for the 2.2L engine.

Doesn't Tracy Sports have a header specifically for the 2.2 liter as well?

I agree the part about VTEC going through too fast.

But I guess each has his own taste when it comes to cosmetic changes ...

That could be; I was only aware of the Mugen.

Great review and I agree with him.

- VSA works great on wet and is quieter than my MDX whenever the ABS engaged.
- Feels slower from 125- 140mph since AP1 can stay on 5th from 120-140mph
