Would love to know before I get a set of Ap2 wheels. Thanks!
Nope. Fit perfectly even with wider tires on back.

I personally daily drive my AP2v1 wheels on my AP1.
225/45r17 Front tires and 255/40r17 Rear tires.

No rub even when autocrossing it or on track (with RS4s same sizes)

Should work. I have an AP2 with 17" wheels for my summer tires, and I have my winter tires mounted on 16" AP1 rims and I have zero problems.

I have a 2002 AP1, and the BEST wheels I found for them are the CR wheels from 2008. I went with silver, not gunmetal, so maybe they were not just for the CR.

It's a 2002 AP1 with NO modifications, and on the CR wheels I have 255/40 17s on the back and 225/45 17 on the front. Dunlop Direzza zIII, and not only do the FIT perfectly, they also LOOK like they were the original design for the car. I always thought the AP1 wheels and tires left too much room in the wheel wells.

Short answer? Do it.

See? Looks like it was always designed for bigger tires and wheels. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thumbs up

No Problems. I have an 02 in Chicago. I put Blizzaks on the stock rims and got a set of 05 rims, powder-coated, with summers.

I felt the same as you at one point. I put ap2 V1 wheels on my 2001 and the handling felt worse. The car yawed more and the extra rubber didn't really make a noticeable difference. You can feel the difference in weight right away. Now I'm on rpf1 17x9 on all 4 and it's definitely an upgrade. I put the 16 inch ap1 wheels on my 2002 accord. Looks awesome. I had two sets. So I used the small 205 width wheels on all four corners.

Putting the later 17" wheels on the first generation S2000 is street legal and official approved even here in German by Honda Germany and TUV. In the US, dont think twice, go for it.
