This forum as really gotten to me. I was planning to just keep my car stock. But another thread started me thinking. Now I have the urge to get a VAFC.

I've done some searching, both the VAFC I, & II will work on our S.

I have a few questions:

1) I want to verify that the VAFC I has no problems interfacing with our ECU. I recall CEL light problems with the installation of the VAFC I, I

 

Bump, I am thinking about this install if its possible on a stock 01' S

 

Personal opinion is that it's not worth doing on a stock S2K. All you'll really be doing is slightly correcting the map installed from the factory, perhaps reducing the richness that was put there by the factory to ensure reliability across the board despite slight differences in each engine. I'd go for other mods first, then perhaps tune with a VAFC to consider the differences in the car from its stock form.

Or just go with an EMS like many people seem to suggest, though I can't really speak to that.

 

The reason I like the Vafc is that the car looks stock but that little extra boost. I will check into EMS..thanks MikeyCB

 

No problem. It's my understanding though that the little extra boost is often REALLY little, to the tune (no pun intended) of like 1-2hp.

 

Thats it! I have been told up to 20 horsepower above 8k and about 10hp before 8k....I am thinking the tuner would have alot to do with power output.

3.they are practically the same, just that the 2 has more tuning parameters meaning you can more finely tune it according to RPM's

 

Hey washabi what mods do you have on your car? Would you recommend someone(me) getting this if my car is stock, or has only exhaust.

Just checked it out, I dont see myself doing major mods...just exhuast and possibly an intake if I find a good deal on one I want, which most I stay away from due to hydrolock in a previous vehicle. Anyway w/o me doing anything major besides the normal header and exhaust is the ultimate system really needed versus the VAFC
