Default Apology to MY02 owners....

The other day I test drove a 02 with 23k miles on it in search for one for my uncle. When I drove it and punched it, it seemed like the car had no power at all. After that I posted somewhere that I thought that my 04 pulled a lot faster.

Today, I drove another 02 with 9k miles, which he bought by the way, and when I punched the gas on that one it seemed just as fast as my car.

So I would like to apologize for the statement I made and hope there is no hard feelings.

'00-'03 and '04+ owners unite!

Don't worry we make mistakes. It's the same as people test driving a '04 with 10 miles on the odo and then tell us that it has no punch

I met up with 2 S2k owners down in Tuscaloosa, AL last night. One with an 02 and one with an 04. We got to mess around a bit, all side by side. I wanted to see if the new cars do have more torque down low, so with both me and the '02 in 5th gear at around 3k RPM, we raced until VTEC engagement. I ended up abit over a car length ahead of him by 6k. Once we were in VTEC though, it seemed as though we were dead even.

All S2ks are not created equal.

I've got a MY00 w/ heavy 19" wheels all around, an AEM v2 CAI that many have claimed gains nothing over the stock airbox and an "HP stealing" HKS Hi-power exhaust which has apparently dynoed lower than stock in CA, yet I've walked most stock S2ks that run w/ me. I've got no stock gears.

In contrast, my buddy has a MY03 w/ a "more" efficient brand-named SINGLE exhaust, lowered car for better aero-dynamics and by his own admission has never walked ANY car.

No one seems to know why his is so slow but it happens.

Maybe you should print your retraction in that thread? OR was it "Dumpstered"?

It is strange that there is such a difference in how each S feels. Every S I drove the day I bought mine felt the same way. I bought the strongest one. It just happened to be the one I wanted. There was an 01 I drove that maybe the oh'l butt dyno may have thought to be a little faster. I think it was just the way the VTEC kicked in.
