Default Appreciate what you have

It is hell gettin old. You hear that while growing up and then one day it applies to yourself. Sold my 02 AP1 a month ago as between my 6'3" frame and an aging hip, the trip to work became a chore instead of a pleasure. Purchased a BMW 135i convertible. Great car, tons of torque, classy as hell and also heavy as hell. I can now drive pain free but God I miss the s2000. Never rode in a Boxster or a Z3/4. For that matter I never rode in a AP2. All I do know is that the 9k redline is one very sweet sound. Those 4 cylinders screaming is better than the 300 pounds of torque that my 135i has. Between that screamin and the way the S is wired to the road, some minor twisties become nirvana. I read Excellence as I once had a 928 and about a year ago they had an editorial about the S2000. The write raved about how FUN the S was. Of course he threw in how much more civilized the Porsches were. Yea they are, but they also cost more to buy and also to maintain.

So appreciate your S as it is one very, very fantastic car. For the money, it cannot be beat. No way, no how, PERIOD.

P.S. If you see some old guy driving a red 135i vert, give him a break. He may have once owned one of the best damn 2 seat roadsters ever made.

I am a "senior", with knee replacement, spinal back fusion and on and on. I sold my BMW Z4, bought an S2000 and then moved to an S2000 CR. I would totally agree. The pleasure and enjoyment far outweighs and small discomforts. Love my CR.

I love my S2000 and never plan to sell it even though I barely drive it due to my love of motorcycles.

Sad story really...I hope to keep my S for a long, long time. Even if I can't drive it everyday for whatever reason, I hope to keep it as something to have when I can drive it.

Thanks for the reality check, i do appriciate it. Hate when people i know bitch and moan about their great lives. Start modding that 135i! Coilovers, drop some of that weight and boost it up!!

Getting old does suck. Hell I'm only 39, and I already wish I was 25 again. The lady told me the other day "in 15 years I probably won't be able to get in and out of this car." My Dad is 71, and fell in love with the S2000 after I bought my first AP1 and my current AP2. He has trouble getting in and out, and didn't buy one because of that reason. I can't even believe I've owned this car for over 10 years now. I was in my 20s when I got my first S. This is depressing stuff. hehe

True though. The youngsters who are now taking over for the older previous owners should be thankful and appreciative that they can own such an amazing machine. Keep the enthusiasm going, and definitely appreciate what you have. I know I do.

I've owned a string of impractical cars since turning 16. Fieros, Mr2's, now s2000. I'm 34 now; I hope I never get too old for these sporty 2 seaters....

I plan to be buried with mine. A close second was my Mark II Supra. Lots of fun but it scared me to death. 3rd gear opening at 85.

I'm 22 now. Iv had 30 cars. I love to switch, iv had supra's, eclipses, 3000gt vr4, rsx-s, so many more. I just recently sold my '00 s2k. I will tell you what I thought I upgraded to a sc300 twin turbo making 286 hP at 9 psi. I missed my favorite car still.. So I got a rsx-s still missed the s. I traded the rsx which had a salvage title but zero issues for A '03 bb s2k with again a salvage title. It was only hit on the driver side I was told. Got home found that the passenger side frame rail was bent :-( I still drive it proudly everyday. I hope I can find a shell to swap everything over..
