I've had the car long enough now to have figured it out (I think), but would like some feedback to see if I'm there yet.

Going on my previous car's attributes (M roadster), I figured "with this S2K and less torque, I'll make sure I'm in a gear that keeps the revs at 3k or above." After driving for about 3 months, I have bumped that to 4k or above and have come to the conclusion that 6th gear is strictly for highway cruising when speed will stay above 65 for long periods. I will even keep it in a gear up to about 5500rpm for several seconds in heavy traffic where speed is constantly changing and I know it will slow down again.

Where do you other guys keep the revs for "around town"?

I keep it in the 4k's, unless I'm planning to pass or change lanes. 5k's will take care of regular passes.

I usually shift about 5-6K in regular driving and 8-9K when "showing" off

Around town I find myself in 4th gear much of the time.

I cruise in 4th around town anytime I'm under about 40 mph. Anything constant above that, 5th will be chosen and, once on the highway, I drop into 6th for economy knowing I've always got 3rd in reserve, if needed, for fun.

I've had my car for 3k now and other than the break in period,I rarely put the car into 4th gear around town.My
GSR which has a 100k on it[little or no oil burning]was treated the same way and have no problems with it.The GSR
is rarely in 5th gear on the highway except for long trips.
I believe Honda built these cars well and driving above
the mid RPM ranges [into noisy teritory]won't hurt it.

I have no problem cruising around at 45mph in 6th gear.

True question is when can you even go fast enough to really justify using 6th gear? I don't think the F20C likes to run at low revs all the time. Three gears are more than enough for "around town". Usually not above 3rd unless I'm on the freeway myself.
