Arrogant Honda Rep.
The Honda district rep was in town yesterday. I wanted him to look at paint defect on left w/s pillar. He wouldn't even look at car, would only talk to me on the phone and kept me on hold for 11 minutes. Said I had "modified" car by removing w/s tape and that made Honda not responsible. I told him that I knew of at least 2 situations where Honda had authorized the repair. He arrogantly said: "not any in TN and there won't be any". He said Honda put tape on to stop rock chips (I guess black cars have a special rock repellant paint).
He then said that the w/s frame wasn't even clearcoated, just like the underside of hood and inside of gas cap wasn't clear coated. When I pointed out that their showroom poster of 2001 models showed the car w/o tape he said: "Honda reserves the right to make changes at any time".
Now my question to all of you. Is the w/s frame clearcoated? It sure looks like it to me. How can I tell for sure? It makes absolutely no sense that Honda would apply the paint, then put the w/s tape on, then mask the w/s tape, then apply the clearcoat! Or do they clearcoat the w/s tape?
Any thoughts?
