in this video i noticed that the shifter was real high, why? could this be more advantage for spirited driving?

All I know is some motorsports have high shifters so the driver can go from the wheel to the shifter and back quickly, so I'd say its more for keeping the shift hand on the wheel to reduce fatigue/misshifts than anything. It also looks like a smg transmission, so he's just tapping it forward and back.
It's to eliminate unnecessary arm movement between shifts.

It'll look extremely goofy in your DD, but I've tried one of these on the track and it makes a huge difference.
The s2k shifter is high enough IMO (unless you're driving something super fast and critical like the ASM car where every millisecond counts). But go out and drive an older civic or an integra and you'll see the need for one if you intend on road racing
