Default Attempted break in?

to start off, I would just like to say I am a sk2i noob but I have been using this site for awhile now after getting my S. Anyways so I work at Walgreens pharmacy and I usually park in the same exact spot, not directly in front of hte store but the parking spaces behind that at a corner spot. So I was leaving for my lunch break and i walked up to my car and I see this long bike cable about 2 ft long with each end stripped about 6". One end was in a shape of a Jadn the other end was bent. basically like this pic:

http://www.carunlocktools.com/images/11573...2948012982.jpeg where the end like like a J.

Anyways I found it laying next to my car door on the floor. Was this an attempt to break into the S?! I got to work at 9am and i got out to my car at 2pm and i saw it there. Its broad day light? Im just wondering if they wanted to steal the car/seat/ or hoping i have a nice stereo system. This happened Friday and I'm still like shocked/scared about it bc I love the S. Anyways sorry about hte long post and if its not correctly posted. I'm a noob. I was wondering what I should do to as in security wise. What is the best alarm for our S. I'm planning to get seat locks also.

its possible...sounds like a ghetto fashioned door unlocker.

where they stick the J shaped wire through the crevice of your window
and hopefully try to houdini their way through to your door locks.

solution: keep the S at home.
or get theft insurance.

It's very hard to get into an s2k with one unless they rip the top and use it. Ask anyone who has ever locked their keys in their car.

Get insurance before an alarm.

if you got insurance. Get an alarm. Or hell....a blinking LED will do it temporarily.

Proximity sensor is your best friend. I've been woken up at 3am by my paging alarm and ran out the door only to find a big ass handprint on my soft top. (It was damp from the overnight moisture buildup).

Can't tell you how many times it's saved me. First and best mod I did for my S. Along with the Seat Locks.

Thanks Mondo and Zero for replying. Yes I do have theft insurance. I'm in the market for an alarm. I was searching the forum and it said that the best alarm is by DEI which covers viper and clifford (correct me if im wrong, I don't know much about it) which has like a 2 proximity or something? Which alarm do you have zero and which alarm would u recommend? Thanks. Glad htat it saved you so many times, i hope to get an alarm as good as yours!

Here is something I was wondering. Like obviously the peopel who attempted to break in has been scoping my car and knew it was an employee instead of a customer. How did htey know that I dindt have an alarm and attempted to break in? sigh,

I have a DEI alarm. The Clifford Matrix 50.7x with 2 way pager. It cost a pretty penny ($650 installed including proximity sensor) but it's been well worth it. The proximity sensor is an add on module from DEI that you have to purchase and integrate to the alarm. There is also a Viper alarm that is pretty much the same alarm as this Clifford. DEI owns both companies. The shop I had it installed at just happened to have the Clifford one.

Make sure you get a good install, and also make sure everything is hidden well.

The antenna with the big blue flashing LED is usually enough to keep those dirty thieves away.
