I'm in central NJ. Well, my friend works for a BMW dealership and got to know the guy who buys their trade ins and sells them at auction. He travels to a few different dealership in this area. He has gotten my friend into the auction before, and said he would be happy to get any car for him at auction. He just saw an 04 s2k pass by a month ago with 40k on the odometer for 20k. I'm looking for an MY02 so I'm hoping it should be somewhere around 16k or below. I would assume that a guy in his position and reputation with car dealerships would know what to look for in a car at auction.

It's still a gamble when you're letting someone else buy for you, especially at an auction...I work at an wholesale auto auction here in the midwest and I can tell you one thing, if you can find a suitable car at an auction that has no issues, you are getting a great deal, and just saved yourself a couple grand.. =)

Btw.. Gl on your search, I tried finding an Ap1 berlina in chicago, arizona, wisconsin, and a couple other out of state auctions and I didn't find one that was in the condition that i wanted...

And if you can find one for 16k and under, congratulations, the market at this point as of last week was still down and the s2ks in the midwest are going for 16.9-17.5 that are in good condition and low miles..

I bought my '01 with 55k miles on it perfect condition in and out for 18,900. Berline Black FTW! Color I wanted and in perfect condition for cheap, don't get much better than that.
