Auto Insurance Question
I have a question about what sort of things will have an effect on auto insurance rates. I had previously had 7 perfect years and recently in the last year had one ticket for driving too fast and I lightly tapped another car at a stop sign with a clm for the person I bumpped totaling 600.00 and nothing for my self. When my renewal came up I still got the 5 year good driver discount and my rate did not go up. Since that renewal date I had another driving too fast on my record. I know that the driving too fast violation is not as serious as a speeding ticket but obviously still not a good thing. I have heard that some insurance companies don't really penalize for driving too fast or for speeding tickets unless you get 3.
My question is what kind of rate change can I expect when my renewal comes up in April? How do most insurance companies weigh a driving too fast violation. I absolutely love my insurance company which is Geico and I know up until now I was in the top catergory for being a good driver. I don't want my rates to spike or to be dropped all together. I really am a very good driver.
Any feedback (hopefully positive) would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

i think you would be better talking to your insurance rep than the people here in this forum for your issue....im sure everyones rate is different because of there background, lifestyles,etc.....
Also, whatever happens with your insurance is going to be dictated by the insurance laws in your state. So, only someone in CT that knows what they're talking about will be able to help you. But personally, I wouldn't call up Geico and ask them. There's always a chance that a speeding ticket or accident will go unreported to your insurance company. I work for an insurance company in NC and I see it happen every day. The cases I see are when a ticket shows up on a person's record months or years after it actually happened. Its usually a matter of DMV error. Many times, by the time the insurance company finds out, its too late to raise the customer's rate. In NC, an insurance company can only charge back one year.
i agree, you should ask your rep. Everyones situation is different and too mnay factors dicate your rate. All i know is im paying an arm and a leg for insurance cuz i have 3 incidents on my record in the last 3 years and NONE of which were my fault! and guess who pays for that
