Default Auto tranny fluid in Engine.

i called Honda to ask how much compression test and leak down test cost and he ask me what is the probelm. i said oil burning. he told me those test would not help me slove the issue. he said it has to do with the oil ring or sumthing like that. need to open up enigine and those test would just be a waste of money. he also suggested puting in half quart of auto tranny in the engine mix with oil.

his reason- previous owner babied the car(dont drive it) and the oil got sticky and thats how the oil ring can get bad.

i did a compression test and it ran all 240.

i was also wondering if leak down test is as easy as a compression test. theres no post of DYI of leakdown test

How much oil are you burning? Actually, Krank Vents may be your answer. AP1s are known to use oil. A lot of it goes out through the PCV valve when cornering.

First, AP1s burn a lot of oil, so how much are you burning - it may be within normal amounts. I wouldn't put trans. oil in your engine - I think he recommended that just to help seal any leak, but its more cosmetic than a real fix and may not be the right thing to do anyway.

Sounds like a venting/PCV or valve oil seal issue if it's anything past normal oil consumption.

i burn about 3-4 quarts in 3000 miles. i currently have the supra TT pcv valve on my car right now and running great. the reason was honda was gona charge me $30 for thier PCV while the Toyota dealers charges $6 for the supra pcv. chaged about 1.5 months ago. as of now i switched back to castrol GTX and its been burning slower now.

the reason he wants me to put auto tranny fluid in the engine cause he said it can clean the oil ring.

3-4 quarts every 3k miles sounds a lot more than the typical ap1 oil burn issue. i burn right under a quart in 3-4k miles.

Sorry I can't be much help, but I hope you meant to type 3/4 of a quart. If it is really three to four quarts, I would imagine your car looks similar to my old '74 Plymouth Scamp with a slant six in it going down the road.

ATF is pure detergent. I've seen my dad do this a few times. The problem is , if the engine is all gunked up, the ATF loosens all this stuff and the next think you know you have clogged oil lines and an engine that needs to be replaced. If you decide to chance this procedure, let the Honda mech do it for you. Now you have some recourse if anything bad happens.

My AP1 has never burned a drop of oil since new before and after the SC. And I change my oil every 3500-4500 miles. Guess I'm lucky.

The best, and safest product to clean up ring packs on the market is Auto-Rx. It will also clean up sludge, hard deposits, and clean all rotating seals (inside and out). Try this before you pour ATF into your crankcase:
