Default Automotive Engineering Opportunities

Hi All,
I am a Junior Mechanical Engineer at Johns Hopkins. I am interested in working in the automotive industry, especially the aftermarket/high performance sector. I was wondering if anyone knew of any companies/people who hire engineers or offer internships in these fields. I have both the theory background (coursework) and a practical background gained from working in a garage during the summer. Any suggestions/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
-Jon

IMO, your best bet is probably to looks towards either one of the big three US manufacturers or some of the major suppliers to help you build up your technical experience level and make contacts in the automotive business. These companies usually have the resources necessary to develop and train young engineers while a lot of the smaller "aftermarket" businesses are looking for experienced people who can hit the ground running with minimal training for their technical areas. Good luck!
