Regarding your Dodge SRT-4 and VXT stories (AW, Nov. 4); Chrysler's VXT people managed to get almost as much specific output from a "hot rod" turbo motor (245 hp) as some factory Hondas get from normally aspirated motors. No wonder the import fans laugh at Mopar products. This is supposed to be the Vehicle "Excitement" Team? I'll pass.

Still a Neon

 

What else can be said. I'd give up 50+ hp and still be happy with my S2000. A neon is a neon, an S2000 is a sports car

 

WRX 2.0 Liters, Turbo, 227 hp = High tech, japanese car
Neon SRT, 2.0 liters, Turbo, 220+hp = Low tech, Detroit POS

Yeah it's okay to give other cars their due credit without it taking away from your current car. Cars will get faster and if a 19,000 thousand dollar neon that can keep up with your car (and a few more psi be faster) bruises your ego so much, you need to take a breath and say your car does not define you as a person when you someone insults your car they are not insulting you. I hate to see that attitude. I really love my S2K but I won't say things like it's just a Neon to make me feel better. The SRT turbo Neon should be of the best sport compact cars ever made and that counts for something more than it's just a Neon. It's a fast car with good handling (Check out your next local SCCA AutoX event if you disagree) and it's cheap. I'm secure enough in my car purchase to say that.

an audi TT or boxter owner can also says "it's just a honda"
it's just not friendly. i think ppl who r getting the neon r getting a good deal, cheap & powerful. cars a gettin more and more hp as technology is improving everyday. like the 350z and g35c, they have more hp than the z and cheaper. although the z doesn't holds the highest Hp among it's price group but it's most significant thing is it's lofty 9000-rpm redline. that's why i gave up buying the audi TT and purchased the S
