Default Bad axle?

Ok, here are the symptoms of the problem I am having:

-clicking sound coming from drivers-side, rear. Sounds like it is coming from directly behind the wheel.
-there is one click per rotation of the wheel.
-the clicking is more noticeable in neutral opposed to when on the gas.
-the clicking speeds up/slows down to the speed of how fast I am going.

Does this sound like a bad axle to you guys? I had a bad wheel bearing on a previous car, and this is not the sound that I am currently experiencing. The sound I am experiencing could be compared to when they spin the wheel on Wheel of Fortune, haha.

I had that symptom when the diff went out on my Mustang. Is there any end play in the axle? (Does the rear wheel move in and out?)

Not sure, going to be jacking the car up tomorrow and checking. If it was the differential going out, wouldn't I notice a difference in performance? Also, wouldn't the sound be coming from more in the middle-rear of the car? I was also told you would hear a loud whirling type noise for the differential.

Any other thoughts? Remember, I still hear the noise while in neutral, not sure if that makes a difference.

I had a sound on an accord like that, but in the front, and it turned out being a huge rock stuck into the treads of the tires. I am just glad i found it before i took it in for for the sound. It may be a long shot, but i guess you never know. Good luck.

Ian, at first I thought of that but didn't think it would create such a loud sound. Either way, I took your advice and removed the wheel today. Sure enough, there was a chunk of wood lodged in between the inner treads. Took the wood out, the sound went away! Thanks for the suggestion, saved me some headaches for sure, haha. Sometimes we skip the simple steps and make things much harder than they have to be
