drilling.... drilling.... (they need drilling smiles for this board)

thanks to everyone on these great tips! 2x6, your s2k is shiny slick! screw work, i'm going home to wash my baby. oh wait, need paycheck to pay car payments. doh!

thanks again!

J.

PS - is there a FAQ on s2k on this site? i'm looking for basics like the maximum speed of this car. that extra digial space for a "2" is just soooooo tempting... but again, that's probably for km not miles.

I'm cool with Sime, while I might get a second opinion from time to time I never argue with an expert. Might question, discuss, etc but never argue. I can't argue with Sime's CV (and 2X6 looks excellent also) and while I am very happy with my process, might be room to learn a little more.

ps: Sime, just read your post in the wreck site, now if you like REAL football like we play here in the states and are a fan of THE University of MEEECHIGAN, this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Hey Mark....that's cool!!!!!

I'm not saying one bit that you don't know what you are doing. Car care is for many people, a VERY personal thing. Kind of like telling someone how to eat their food, how to drive or what clothes to wear! Everybody has an opinion!

I started with an opinion many years ago (before I turned Pro!! ) and made a lot of mistakes. I learnt the hard way dare I say it before I knew what I was doing, like I'm sure you did before you became licensed as an MD!!

Some things, you can get away with with regards to car care, but some things you don't get a second chance. The paint on cars these days is SO thin, that it doesn't take much to wear through and do some major damage. As there is only so many times that you can rub a car back before it needs repainting, I always strongly advise people to learn about what the are about to do before they do it.

Still, if what you are doing now works for you, who am I to argue!!

Anytime you are up near Detroit, let's get a beer! My shout!

Cheers mate!

PS. Just read your 'edit'. Well, I'm not a mad fan of Aussie Rules, but I do support UofM (as my boss is a big UofM fan)! I need to learn more about American football and I have a very open mind! BTW, I love anything motor racing too.

"By the way, DO NOT use a wool wash mit. Only use an open pore sponge or a 100% cotton towel like what you just bought above."

How about a genuine Australian Sheepskin mitt?

Get the cars washed and waxed, already; then relax and have an adult beverage!

Ask and learn. That's what this site is all about:

There is absolutely nothing better (I do really like the 3M Swirl Remover though, so this is why I have recommended it to you).

What kind of wax should I use then???

BTW: thanks for all the quick responses, hopefully my black beauty will look as good as 2x6spds' soon.

Sime,

Please explain your reasons for not recommending a chenille wash mitt. I have been using one for years with great results but respect your knowledge and experience. What do you use? Natural sea sponge? I will always consider something better.

Sime,

Thanks for taking the time out and providing all the details/secrets on how to really care for and wash the cars exterior. I for one definately appreciate it. It's good to hear from someone with all your experience.
I've been trying to decide on which products to go with and your comments sold me on the Zaino. I hope to get the results you described.
Thanks again!
