bad diff and warranty
I put the stock airbox back on just to be safe. a new diff is about a 2k fix right? man im glad this did not happen after 100k. is has not gone out yet but on decel or coasting while not in gear there is a loud clicking or grinding sound that slows as the car slows.

Warranty companies are TERRIBLE!!Trust me ive worked on sevaral s2ks that needed repairs and the warranty company sends one of there goons down to the dealership to inspect the car.If they see an after market exhaust then youre screwed!Dont give them ANY reason to frown and you will be fine!
well the car has had the clicks since I bought it, you know the one click when you go from reverse to 1st. this sound is more of a card in the spokes kinda thing. The slower the car goes the louder the sound gets. When I decell in any gear as the rpms drop the the sound is louder. The only strange thing is if I depress the clutch as the rpms drop the sound stops, however if the car is in neutral and is rolling 10mph or so the sound is there no matter what I do with the clutch. from all the threads I have read it seems my diff only has a few more miles until it blows. I will have the car at the honda dealer wednesday morning if it makes the 30 mile drive.

If you have an extended "warranty" (HondaCare, etc)...take the intake off before you go in. If you don't have the original airbox, someone local to you may have their original or swap with you for a few weeks.
Extended "warranties" are not true warranties, but insurance policies that can be cancelled at anytime for any modification you have on your car.

I keep seeing this claim repeated, but if you've ever actually read the honda care fine print, it doesn't say this. It says they will deny claims for failures resulting from an aftermarket part. It could be a hassle to fight, but you'd win in the end. Also, you could contact your State attorney general, consumer protections, media. An air filter does not make a diff. go bad. Get real. And don't believe the hype.
