Default Baffled Trap Door Oilpans

The Go Fast Lab and TC Design are happy to announce the only commercially available trap door oil pan for the S2000!

The OEM pan allows oil to move away from the oil pump pickup location during sustained high-G situations like those experienced on high speed sweepers or banked turns. When this happens, the motor can momentarily lose oil pressure and when it happens repeatedly or for a sustained period then the result is usually spun bearings and an epxensive repair for a blown motor. Not good.

This pan is designed to reduce the possibility of high-G induced oil starvation in the S2000 motor. It bolts right up to the motor without additional modifications and the welded-in baffle fits tight up against the factory oil windage tray. It has three trap doors that help control oil movement during high-G turns. The baffles and trap doors work by letting oil flow unimpeded during normal operation to the pump pickup but under high lateral G loads, the doors close to prevent oil from escaping the pickup location.

Assuming that it's been proven to work....this appears to be a great product.

The S2000 version has been track tested on krazik's race car. Trap door oilpans themselves have been around for a long time.

I would be very interested in this product as well. But $425 for a $200 oil pan with 3 hinges, 3 pieces of metal, and 10 stitch welds? Seems a bit pricey for me.

Maybe there could be a core exchange to make it more reasonable?

Man no offense but those welds look sloppy... not like it matters in a oil pan but the price factor plays alot into quality.

We could modify your existing oilpan if you shipped it to us, but at this time we're not contemplating a core exchange. I'll have to check on what the potential pricing for that would be.

why don't you sell just the panel and doors only

Sounds like you've never welded aluminium before. The oil pan is much thicker than the aluminium baffle being welded to it. It takes a lot of carefully controlled heat to get the weld puddle formed and NOT blow through the thinner aluminium.

The welds look perfectly fine for TIG welding 2 different thickness materials.
