Default Bang when starting out

Dear S2K Friends,

I have a 2005 Rio Yellow beauty--bought it new.

Occasionaly when I start out form the garage, I start her, place her in 1st, and ease off the clutch, then I hear a loud bang, almsot like I hit something, but I have not, then continue, and all seems normal....this does not happen all the time, but it has happend three times so far---

Any ideas ?

Not sure what that could be. Does it happen every time??? What's it sound like, and exhaust back fire. Have you checked your oil lately??? More details would be helpfull.

Your brake pads mildly corroded to the rotors while the E-brake was engaged. This is simply them breaking loose. Try leaving the car in gear when parking on a flat surface instead of using the E-brake. This will also prevent the E-brake cable from stretching.

No worries.

Thanks to all for the responses.

I was, in the back of my mind, thinking that the pads might be sticking somehow to the rotors.

Now that several have mentioned it, it seems logical as we live in a very humid climate, North Florida, basically a beautiful swamp.

We will take the advice of leavingit in ger in the garage and now using the e-brake-

Thanks to everyone !

Stan
