Default battery question. am i wrong or right?

my car's battery keeps dying on me.
i jump start it, drive it around, park it, and within few min. i start the car
again, it would start,
but if i park it for over night or more, the battery dies again.

now, is this the battery problem? or the car's generator (or whatever it's called...) problem?

i park it for few min. after driving around and the car starts again, i think means
the generator's working.
i park it for longer period of time, the battery dies again-
so, it's battery's problem.

am i right?

Yeah, sounds like the battery to me. If it were the alternator, the car would run out of juice while driveing and die. But if it runs fine after being jumped or popped, it is most likely the battery. Autozone will test the battery at no charge for you.

Battery is the most probable, but it seems strange that it would be dead already in a 2001.

You could also have a short in the electrical system that drains the battery even when the key is turned off. Did you have anything recently installed? Radio? Alarm?

I don't think it's the alternator since you can start it up soon after driving.

I had no time to fool with it when mine did that.. just went to the nearest auto parts store and bought what they had.. for $45 it is not worth spending too much time on it.

If it's a stock battery, you can check the color of the "eye" and see if the battery is still in good working order.

It's probably a weak cell in the battery. Have it tested.

Check your trunk or dome light - I'll bet it's staying on all of the time. That will easily kill a battery overnight. Of course you may have to crawl into your trunk and have someone lock you in to check
