Default Battery Tender

Just bought the Battery Tender 800 for winter storage of my 2004 S2000 and am not sure which setting to use on the charger. The options are Lead Acid, 12V, and Lithium. I am pretty sure it's Lead Acid, but wanted to make sure. TIA

I doubt you have a lithium ion battery...unless you went out and bought one.

The stock battery is lead acid.

There are three options: 12V 800mA, Lead Acid, or Lithium.

The select button should just cycle between the Lead Acid and LiOn options. The 12V light is just the status indicator to indicate it is connected, charging, fully charged, etc. The car came with a lead acid battery. Someone would have to have shelled out for a LiOn battery and most likely will be very clear if one has been put in by labeling, size, etc.

I like that charger a lot and use it when it is raining in California. I used the plug to hard bolt it on my battery and when I charge, I hook it up and lower the unit by the oil filter to the ground and fish it out to plug in. I can close the hood and cover the car. I use paint stirring sticks (anything that will work) with sharpie writing on it saying “Charging” and leave it on the seat or dash so I won’t start and drive away with it hooked up.

Yep I have a few of them. I have one that I keep connected to the riding mower (Even in summer when its being used weekly. greatly increases the battery life in them), one for the s2k in winter (larger model) and another just like the one on the S2k that I have the 12 ft cable for that connects to the 01 4runner that is parked behind the shop and rarely driven.

I have the first one, a 3 amp, in a storage building with my riding mower. You are right about making the battery last on those. I have a deep cell marine one that I use occasionally in my pop up trailer but more frequently on my fishing motor out on the lake. It also is used in the shop for some DC charging LiPos and my pump for my road bike. That Deep cell is well over 10 years old and doing great.
