Before I buy A S2000
Hi all
I have just done a search on google and come across your site, reason why i am here is I am 22 and currently driving a VW Golf And Want a little change, I dont know really too much about these cars but as everything willing to learn,
I know if i can id perfer the GT model as it comes with a hard roof.
i am looking for advice on certain things
> Rough Price Ranges for Car 2004 and up?
> What Things To Look Out For (The usual problems that can accure)?
And any expert advice would be a big help.
I am not in any hurry to buy just if something comes up my price range at the very most will be around

Hey dude.
I'm a relatively new owner, about 2 months now (by far not an 'expert'), but I have a lot of free time at work so I usually surf S2Ki for info. about the car.
I don't know what S2000's are running in the UK, but a simple pricing guide guide would be your best bet to get an overall idea of what they are running....not just one, but you know, use a few and just look around at sales.
If you're buying from a dealership, I'd look out for any dents in side panels (look for them on the hood as well, aluminum dents easily), find out when the differential fluid was changed and what fluid they used (preferably <15K miles), aside from service records; make sure the gears aren't overly tough to run through. I'm not all knowing or anything, but reading a lot of threads from various forums and web sites about gear skipping, sometimes you'll have to have an entire gear replaced if it gets too hard to shift into....but research it man, I've only read stuff and never actually seen the problem first hand. Check the oil level - AP1's can burn oil; A good indicator to the person you're buying the car from and how well they serviced it. Check the top for rips....I don't know too much about it, but supposedly the soft top is defective, and will eventually rip at a joint with normal use, so check it out from the inside out pretty thouroughly.
Other than that, there are other really helpful threads on here - Check the FAQ thread in the Introductions forum, that's where I found a lot of help. Don't buy on impulse dude! It's a buyers market!

There's a UK forum, you would get better results if you posted in there.
