Default best CAI to prevent hydrolock?

Just curious is the comptech the only one? Or are there some CAI which have a better design? I did a search on google for s2000 hydrolock and type R and honda etc and the stories I read from diff msessage boards scared me People were getting it from heavy rains and puddles not just big flooded streets and the obvious....

comptech prevents hydrolock, but i also think the PRM does also. the spoon air snorkel wont hydrolock your s2000 either.

I was about to post the same question! Maybe some owners with experience with these will let us know which one is the best. I know that reading about hydrolock and power loses from CAI's have kept me away from them for a while but I'm finally ready to buy and I want the best.

Thanks for posting,

get the AEM V2 and move to palm springs, that will solve your hydrolocking problem... no water to drink out here, so there certainly isnt any running down the streets waiting to get sucked in your motor. you, being in seattle, are pretty much toast with anything other than the comptech i would think.

after researching the issue myself, i recently picked up the V2 and am really happy with it. My shop (_speedstar_) cleared up the entire hydrolock issue without needing to cut the entire area out for the filter nor use an umbrella as many do as well. All we did was cut a slit behind the plastic instead of remove it, so the filter still fits, and is still protected from water that the wheel would throw at it. Also, the only way to really hydrolock the thing, is drive thru standing water that would cover half the rim.

oh and I almost forgot, I think Mugen would be my choice for a CAI.. I just dont' have the funds.. maybe next year..

I've got the aem v1 and ive driven through some heavy ass rains here recently, even today there was quite a bit of rain and a few puddles i couldnt avoide (nothing crazy deep, but the moral of this story is ive had no problems and dont understand how so many people hydrolock their cars

Some people with AEM-style intakes have said that because of where the filter is located, water from under the hood drains onto it. During a heavy rain, enough water can drip onto the filter and collect at the base of the intake which could be sucked into the engine.

ahh, im concidering switching to a comptech or a PRM, prm definately looks "exotic" but im wondering if there are any gains behind it, i may even just go back to stock intake i dunno. I wanna dump the AEM and get something different.

The PRM still draws air from the engine compartment, so can't really be considered a CAI. It does make a nice sound though, if you're into that.
