Best differential oil

Hi all, I know this has been discussed before , but what would you recommend as the best differential gear oil, a 75w 90 or 75w140? Cheers

I went with RedLine. I'll look at my BOM when I get home on which weight I used.

This has been discussed before?

This is the first I'm hearing of it.

This post is like the time Lewis and Clarke tweeted, "so like...what if we walked west for a while?".

IN for answers and new discoveries.

LE1605 here too. Any vendors sell them on this site?

LE1605 in my differential the past 4 years. Bought some Amsoil locally when I anticipated changing the diff oil last week but couldn't find my bottle of 1605 but then couldn't get the Alloy Craft diffuser off so that oil is just sitting here. :) My new order of LE1605 should be here before I figure out how to dismount/remount the diffuser since I have to fabricate new parts to remount it.

Order it direct: https://products.lelubricants.com/it...304/1605-quart

Seems they changed the formula and facelifted their bottle? The fluid used to be red in color, now its purple? Hopefully its just the color that is different.

There are two distinct schools of thought here. Either a quality synthetic 75w-110+, or the muuuch thicker seemingly magic elixir LE1605.

Those that haven't tried the LE think its way too thick, and something better suited to an F350 towing a yacht. Those that have used it all seem to love it. But everyone that has tried it heap praise like they drank LE koolaid. So its possible there os some inherent bias (those that try it are already sold on its benefits, so the only reviews tend to be positive).

But you can't argue with success. LE users oil analysis all seem to look good.

In the thread wars that have transpired, there seems to be some circumstantial evidence that sticking with one type or the other is the way to go.

For what its worth, Billman recommends Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil for our diffs.
