Honda provides a transmission fluid for our manual gearbox but Honda doesn’t have any fluid available for our differential. Because of that, I listened to 2 authoritative sources for S2000’s TO ME. I think Billman and LHT both know what they’re doing because of the sheer amount of S2000’s they have worked on. Their recommendation carries a lot of weight FOR ME because I'm not really an expert with fluids and what's best.. Their recommendation for the diff fluid coincides so it carries even more weight.

You can do or follow whatever or whoever you want. You are maintaining your car and you should do whatever's best for your situation. If you believe the Royal Purple is what's best for your car then by all means go for it.

Well, you can always also go by Blackstone labs, which will tell you that "oil is oil" for the most part, and as long as you have it, you're okay.

Yep, and their analysis demonstrates this well. Stick to spec.

Anybody have a replacement part number (Ex. Dorman) for the drain plug gasket, or maybe know the size?

Want to go to Advance or other and buy it. Don’t want to order online or at dealer and have to wait a week to have the car back on the road.

Diff Oil Mobile 1 #LTC and Billman
Trans Oil Royal Purple #LTH rec
Oil pennzoil ultra platinum #2 in the youtube oil test with project farm was my reason for this. Amsoil Won but it will cost me 2 times as much vs pennzoil for something very close to as good.

This combo has been working SO SOILD; full 600 mile travel + 30 + laps at the track event i burned 0 oil and had 0 issues.
Pretty happy with this combo

Hi all, I know this has been discussed before , but what would you recommend as the best differential gear oil, a 75w 90 or 75w140? Cheers

Hi Redman007. I know this is an old topic but I was also looking at changing my differential fluid. But since there are too many uncertainties with changing the viscosity and all that, I'm just sticking with Honda's recommendation of an SAE 90 GL-5/GL-6 hypoid gear oil, changing it every 15,000 miles for severe conditions (under normal conditions it's every 30,000). I'm using Motul's 90 PA GL-4/GL-5 hypoid gear oil, which to my knowledge is the only straight 90-weight gear oil on the market. It comes in a 2L bottle, which is enough for 2 fluid changes, each change taking about a liter. I got mine from Advance Auto Parts, though idk if they still sell it.
