I've used Mobil 1 in my last 3 Mark VIIIs and have no regrets. As soon as I hit 6000 miles it's going in my Stook.

I change my oil every 3750 (or 6 months, whichever is sooner) on my Civic with Mobil 1 oil and filter. Never had a problem. But, it has only 25,000 miles. But every time I change the oil, it comes out dark. Is that bad? Does that mean I have to change my oil more often than that? Should I change it every 500 miles until it comes out clear again? I started using Mobil 1 one since the 10,250 mile oil change.
The first 2 changes were with dyno "brake-in" oil (if somebody still belive in myths).
Is any of you having the same thing happening to your stooks? Mine only has 2000 miles and it is still clear.

We use a lot of Motul (the French brand) back home though it's a bit on the expensive side... Supposed to be THE best... My turbo cars ate HKS 15W-50.
I have four quarts of redline sitting in my closet now that I plan to try as my first synthetic on the stook at around 4000 miles.

Why don't you change it at 3K miles? I used to change the oil on my Lexus at every 5K as recommended but the oil is very dark at each oil change so I started to change at 3K then it is now OK...BTW, I am switching back to Mobil 1 Synthetic on my next oil change for the STOOK. Currently, I have Castro Synthetic but I have noticed my MPG has gone down since I switched from Mobil 1 to Castro in my last oil change. Maybe this is irrelevant but I was experimenting with Castro since Randy reported that he felt a better surge in VTEC with Castro than Mobil 1 so I thought I would try them out. It is very subjective so I will switch back to Mobil 1 since it is really the only true synthetic oil on the market.

I can't remember all of the details, but remember a consumer reports exhaustive test of oil filters ranked Fram at the very bottom. I recall it was due to minimal amounts of actual filtration material and some cardboard interior pieces that allowed oil to completely bypass the filter under certain conditions...

I use the Mobil 1 High Efficiency Oil Filter

The following additional information appears on the filter package:

MOBIL 1 HIGH EFFICIENCY OIL FILTER

Superior Technology To Clean Oil Better

This Mobil 1 high efficiency oil filter offers the most advanced filtration technology available. Originally designed for use with Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil, this high-performance filter is also recommended for use with conventional or blended oils to increase efficiency and to provide superior performance at higher oil temperatures and pressures. All new car warranties remain in effect when Mobil 1 oil filters are used. Follow your vehicles manufacturer's recommended oil change intervals.

Synthetic Fiber Content

This Mobil 1 filter element features a synthetic fiber content that gives it one of the highest single-pass efficiency ratings available, with 98% particle removal at 10 to 20 microns. Multiple pass tests using SAE procedure J806 show Mobil 1 oil filters are 95% efficient in removing harmful contaminants from engine oil (conventional filters average 80% efficient).

Low Torque Lubricated Gasket

Mobil 1's low torque gasket is internally lubricated to provide a tight seal and for easy removal. Other features include a smooth shell design that eliminates stress points for increased durability. A heavier canister and backplate construction provides maximum protection against impulse fatigue and stress during cold engine starts. In fact, Mobil 1 filters are designed to withstand five times the normal system operating pressure.

The filter part number for the S2000 is M1-104.

Price is $10.00.
